The last five Lazio vs Roma H2Hs

Lazio had an excellent season last time around, finishing 2nd to Napoli in the final Serie A table. They also did the double over Roma, making it a particularly memorable season for Lazio's fanatic supporters.

Roma 2-0 Lazio – 15th May 2021

At the end of the 2020/21 season, Roma played Lazio in a Rome derby that had very little riding on it. Lazio had already secured a sixth-placed finish and Europa League football for 2021/22 while Roma were languishing behind in 7th with no time to catch their local rivals. Roma ended up getting the win, thanks to goals from Pedro and Mkhitaryan.

Lazio 3-2 Roma – 26th September 2021

One of the most exciting Rome derbies in living memory took place in September 2021 as Mourinho and Sarri were settling into their respective roles. In a match that twisted one way and then the other, Lazio raced into a 2-0 lead before being pegged back by Roger Ibanez on the stroke of half time. Lazio restored their two-goal advantage and hung on despite Roma making it 3-2 with 20 minutes still on the clock.

Roma 3-0 Lazio – 20th March 2022

One of Jose Mourinho's most memorable nights as Roma boss came in March 2022 when his side overcame Lazio 3-0. Both clubs were chasing a top-four spot so the win was worth more than just local bragging rights. Roma were electric on the night with three first half goals blowing their opponents away.

Roma 0-1 Lazio – 6th November 2022

The first Rome derby of last season took place in November with Lazio threatening a title charge in Serie A. In what turned out to be a drab affair, Sarri's men ground out the win thanks to a first half strike from Felipe Anderson. Roma huffed and puffed but couldn't get back into the match much to the delight of the Lazio supporters.

Lazio 1-0 Roma – 19th March 2023

The most recent Rome derby saw Lazio win 1-0 in an ill-tempered affair. Roma finished the match with nine men with Roger Ibanez seeing red in the first half and Bryan Cristante following suit late. Lazio also had a men sent off, with Adam Murisic given his marching orders in stoppage time.

Lazio vs Roma H2H: Potential MVP

Romelu Lukaku was seemingly unwanted by a host of clubs in Serie A this summer with Juventus fans going as far as to protest against his arrival when their club were in talks with the Belgian. Eventually, the ex-Inter Milan forward signed for Roma after Jose Mourinho made a pitch to the man he has managed twice before.

Lukaku has repaid the faith shown in him by Mourinho by performing as well as he has ever done. So far, Lukaku has nine goals in 13 appearances for Roma in all competitions and without him, the club's predicament would be far worse. If he can get on the scoresheet on Sunday then he will cement his place as a firm fan favourite in Rome.

Lazio vs Roma H2H – Key trend

Although both teams are technically “at home”, Lazio are the official home side for this fixture which bodes well from a superstitious point of view. The last seven times they have been the designated home side in the derby they have kept a clean sheet but they will have to be at their best if they are to continue this trend with Romelu Lukaku in this kind of form. We are going for a score draw with plenty of action at both ends.
