La Chataigneraie vs Lorient Betting Tips

Lorient will be an overwhelming favorite against a club that plays its football in the Sixth Tier of the league system.

Over 4.5 Goals

Lorient will look to score as many goals as possible, it's a good opportunity for the team to bring back some energy after a long layoff caused by the World Cup. They had a mixed restart to the season, and getting their forwards more involved will be an essential ingredient for the remainder of the season.

Both Teams to Score – No

The visitors don't have the most prolific defense in Ligue 1, but they will be hard-pressed not to allow any goals by an amateur side. With all respect to the home team, for Lorient, it is going to be about showing who is more relevant in the French football sphere, and they are not only a team that plays in the best division that the country has to offer, but also fighting for a place in European competition next season.

Predicted Lineups, Preview, and Team News concerning La Chataigneraie versus Lorient

La Chataigneraie

There is not much to know about this club that was founded in 1925. It is a small commune in the Vendee department which is the part of Pays de la Loire region in the western part of France. Last season they were playing in the National 3 championships which is the Fifth Tier of the French league system but failed to hold onto their spot in the league thus being relegated to the Sixth tier. They don't have many opportunities to play in the French Cup, the first appearance was accomplished in 2011 when they lost to Lucon 1-0. They had to wait seven years for a second chance, and again they lost to Tours after the penalty shootout. Finally, this season they won, not once, but on a couple of occasions. Both of those games were away which is impressive enough for a club of their stature, they beat Sene by 3-0, and a few weeks later got the better of Orvault by a single-goal difference. It's a team with a very large squad of 30 players and considering the level of football they are a part of, it's strange that their team is relatively old at an average age of 28.4. They also have four foreign players on the team, Alseny Camara from Guinea, Mahamadou Niakate from Mali, Marvin Seck, and Mamadou N'Doye, with both players coming from Senegal. They usually play a pretty offensive style of football with the formation 4-2-4. But, it is highly doubtful this will be the case against Lorient.

Predicted lineup: F. Petit, V. Petit, Sachot, Godet, Camara, Biraud, Lescaille, Latifeddine, Melchior, Mimault, N'Doye.

The visitors feature a much younger team, the difference is four years which is a lot in football terms. But, Lorient is a professional team so there is no surprise there. They have had a great start to the season, even being second-placed in Ligue 1 for some time before a sudden drop in form saw them losing momentum. The World Cup break came at the right time to give them additional time to refocus and get their chemistry back. In two games after the hiatus, they were surprised at home by Montpellier, but a few days later avenged that loss by beating lowly Angers away from home. That was their first win after six straight games without one. Lorient's biggest success, when it comes to their history, is winning the French Cup, which happened during the 2001-02 season. Their second biggest achievement was winning the Ligue 2 title couple of years ago.

Predicted lineup: Mannone, Kalulu, Matsima, Talbi, Le Goff, Abergel, Innocent, Ouattara, Le Fee, Cathline, Grbic.

Starting lineups

Starting lineups are usually released 60 minutes before kick-off.

Player to Watch: Dango Ouattara

It is hard to predict what player will be rested by Lorient coach Regis Le Bris for this match, it is expected that do be Terem Moffi. Dango Ouattara should be the one to take charge if Moffi is unavailable. Ouattara is arguably Lorient's second most important player, this season he scored five goals and got as many assists which is the highest mark in the team.
