PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has dealt a major blow to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City by claiming that he could be signing a new contract with the French club. The future of Kylian Mbappe has been under speculation for a while. Along with Erling Haaland, Mbappe was expected to be at the centre of attention this summer. His contract runs out in 2022 and it is believed that the 22-year-old is already looking for new challenges.

Kylian Mbappe hints at staying with PSG to Real Madrid’s hopes

Mbappe became the world’s most expensive teenager after a €180 million transfer to PSG in 2018. He has since been able to win three French Ligue 1 titles while finishing as runner-up in the Champions League once.

Amidst plenty of reports that clubs like Manchester City and Real Madrid are preparing huge bids for a transfer in the summer, Mbappe appears to have reversed his decision of leaving the Parc des Princes. According to, he said:

“We will discuss with the club and we will see what will happen. Either way, I've always been happy here. I understand that everyone is waiting for my answer. We’ll do things in order.”

This turnaround comes even after failing to win the French Ligue 1 – a title often seen as a certainty for PSG – this season.

The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino midway through the campaign seems to have reinvigorated the French striker, who has scored just under 30 goals in the second half of the campaign. Mauricio Pochettino has been able to get good performances out of the World Cup winner, who has come up with 42 goals in just 47 games this season. In contrast, Neymar has been only able to get 17 goals in 31 games across all competitions this season.

The goals have earned Mbappe a ‘Player of the Season’ title from the league. PSG have had good success in extending the contract of their top players. Only a few weeks ago, Neymar committed to another four seasons with the French club. Neymar’s new contract expires only in 2025.
