Liverpool to activate Kudus release clause within days?

According to Ghanaian football journalist Ibrahim Sannie Daara, Liverpool are set to activate the Mohammed Kudus release clause of £85m.

The Reds begun contacts on Sunday before hoping to agree on personal terms, and expected new Liverpool manager Arne Slot is a huge fan of the West Ham United winger, having watched him close at hand in the Eredivisie.

However, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG have also made preliminary enquiries over Kudus, and the next few days are set to be crucial if a deal is to be done.

Kudus release clause: Perfect Salah replacement?

Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool this summer after his public touchline bust-up with Jurgen Klopp in their 2-2 draw at West Ham in April, incidentally in a game Kudus played. Could the Reds swap one Mo for another Mo?

It is safe to say Kudus has made a great impression in a West Ham shirt, scoring 13 goals and supplying a further six assists in 44 appearances in total over all competitions in his debut season at the London Stadium. David Moyes tends to be a more pragmatic manager in terms of his approach to most games too, so Reds fans can surely imagine what Kudus could do in a more free-flowing, attacking team.

Nonetheless, at just 23 years of age, the Ghana international still has plenty of potential, and his market value may even exceed the value of his release clause over the next few campaigns. Slot will relish working with him, especially after witnessing the damage he can do on the pitch when his Feyenoord side were up against him in Dutch football.

Indeed, Kudus managed 27 goals in 87 appearances in total for Ajax over all competitions, and helped them win the domestic league and cup double in the 2020/21 season, and another Eredivisie title in the following campaign. Nonetheless, under Slot's management, Kudus could reach the heights Salah has done in a Liverpool shirt.
