Authenticity (4/5): Romano links Juventus with Kelly
Juventus‘ injury crisis at the back has now landed them at St James' Park, as the Old Lady show a keen desire to sign Lloyd Kelly. Their initial loan offer with an option to buy has been turned down by Newcastle United.

The story comes from the very reliable Fabrizio Romano, who writes “deal on”, adding Juve are prepared to make an improved offer.
Value (3.5/5): Juventus to offer more than Fenerbahce
The Magpies have already turned down an offer believed to be worth £11 million from Fenerbahce. Now, the Serie A giants are hoping to make progress in their pursuit by offering a fee of around £12.6 million.
Since Newcastle signed the player on a free transfer in the summer, such a fee for him in January would represent an impressive profit for them, as far as financial fair play rules are concerned.
Suitability (3.5/5): Versatile defender
The Englishman is primarily a centre-back but he is also capable of playing as a left-back. The athletic and pacey defender could help Thiago Motta's side push higher up the field and attack more aggressively.
Upgrade? (3.5/5): Expect minutes from get-go
Juve are facing an injury crisis in defence, as both Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are expected to remain on the sidelines for the remainder of the season. As such, the talented Kelly wouldn't have to work very hard to cement his place in Motta's starting lineup.
Logic (4/5): Early exit good for all
Kelly's exit just after six months of reuniting with former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe may surprise many but it would be good for the player, who has managed just nine league appearances at Newcastle this season. His sale should also help the club strengthen other more concerning areas in January.
Whisper+ verdict: 18.5/25
Romano's words suggest Juventus are really pushing to sign Kelly. Best to keep a close eye on this transfer saga!
