Harvey Barnes’ Leicester Number
Finishing 18th, Leicester came close to salvation, with a two-point gap separating Harvey’s former club from lacklustre Everton. However, the reality was cruel and Leicester will now have to find their path back to Premier League football.
Wearing lucky number 7, Harvey played his heart out for the Foxes, but as we already mentioned, it simply wasn’t enough. Of course, a player of his caliber can’t compete in the Championship, so Leicester’s board showed class to agree on a £38m Newcastle deal until June 2028.

Now, the lightning-fast winger will be defending the Magpies’ colors throughout the next couple of seasons, and a logical question to ask is about his new jersey number. Harvey didn’t want to ruffle any feathers, so he decided to pick a number that wasn’t already taken.
His beloved number 7 is already in use by Brazilian midfielder Joelinton, and it wouldn’t have been right for Harvey to just come and snatch it away from him. Joelinton already expressed his delight to partner up with the English winger for the 2023/24 campaign, but we are sure that he would’ve been upset had Harvey taken his number.

The 25-year-old player had a variety of choices ahead of him, but he opted for number 15. He followed in the footsteps of Mohamed Diame, Jetro Willems, and Kennedy by wearing this specific number, and we only have to wait and see if he’ll live up to the high expectations set by the Magpies’ fans.
With the number 15 on his back, Harvey Barnes will have a chance to get some playing minutes in the US tour this summer, but we can’t wait to see how well he’ll do in this season’s Premier League campaign.

Harvey Barnes spent 16 years defending Leicester’s jersey. No one can say he didn’t give the Foxes everything he has. He was too young to be featured in Claudio Ranieri’s Premier League-winning squad back in 2016, but he sure spent the next couple of seasons in English football, blossoming into one of the best English wingers out there.
It’d be interesting to see if he can top his 13-goal tally from last season with the number 15 on his back, but whatever he does, he should know, that the Magpies’ fans are hungry for success. He’ll have a chance to impress with a #15 jersey in the Champions League as well – a tournament he’s unfamiliar with. Champions League group-stage games are scheduled to begin in September, so we aren’t too far away from seeing what Barnes is capable of with his new number.
