Harry Kane Bayern Munich Transfer: What’s the latest?

It is no secret that the future of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is one of the major transfer talking points at this moment in time. Declan Rice's move to either Arsenal or Manchester City is perhaps another, but arguably the biggest question this summer is where will the England captain be playing his football next season?

Well, there have been a few clubs mentioned with potentially acquiring the services of Kane in the off-season, and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are very much the latest club to come into the equation. It would appear that this possible transfer has now taken a step closer to becoming reality.

Only Manchester City's treble winning striker Erling Haaland managed to score more Premier League goals last season in comparison to Kane. Haaland certainly isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and with Kane coming close to leaving the club in the past, ironically to Man City before Haaland was even on the books at the Etihad Stadium, it's no shock clubs are lining up a move.

Even many Spurs fans have bombarded social media to say that they would understand if Kane wanted to move on and contest for major honours on the domestic and European front. The 29-year-old has never won a club trophy in all his years at Tottenham, coming closest in 2014-15 and 2020-21 when being a losing finalist in the EFL Cup.

There have been big developments over Kane maybe switching across to Germany and linking up with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern, so let's see exactly where we are in this transfer.

Harry Kane to Bayern Munich: What's the latest?

German publication, Bild, understands that there is ‘an agreement' between Bayern Munich and representatives of Kane over a summer move. With Kane enjoying some down-time between seasons, his father and brother have headed conversations between both parties, and the conclusion is that Kane would be interested in the switch.

A £60million bid from Bayern has already been turned down by Spurs, so the ball is now back in the court of the German outfit with regards what to do next. The club are looking to make a statement in the transfer market and reinstall themselves as one of the big European powerhouses that competes for the UEFA Champions League. Signing Kane would help significantly!

Whilst the player himself is willing to depart London for Munich, there is one notable stumbling block so far in relation to the two clubs actually agreeing a fee. With Spurs chairman Daniel Levy deemed notoriously tough to negotiate with, the fact that Kane merely wants to move does not simply mean that this transfer will go through. Levy wants at least £100million for Kane to exit the club.

As things stand, Tottenham still insist Kane is not for sale and will reject any move. However, should the club receive a significant fee then that could easily see developments change. The England skipper only has one-year remaining on his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium contract, and Levy needs to decide if he leaves now for a big fee or for nothing in a year.

Harry Kane: Are any other clubs interested?

In the Premier League, the Daily Mail believes only Manchester United hold an interest in signing Kane. However, the Old Trafford club are seemingly not willing to pay the valuation that Spurs have placed on Kane. Real Madrid have also demonstrated an interest in the player as they look to replace Karim Benzema, but they may decide to now look elsewhere.

With Tottenham already turning down a £70million bid from Bayern for Kane, according to The Athletic, the ball is now back in the court of the German side with regards what to do next. The expectation is that they'll return with another bid, and possibly another club may enter the equation? New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has worked with Kane before and is a big fan.

One thing is for sure, this transfer saga is set to continue for a while longer yet. The fact that Kane is interested in signing for Bayern means they could be leading the race as things stand. If Real Madrid come forward with a serious offer then things could change. Many claim Kane may even stay at Spurs as he looks to close in on Alan Shearer's record goalscorer accolade.

Time will tell, but as things stand it would appear Kane is closest to joining Bayern Munich more than anything else.
