Midweek handicap football betting tips – our picks

PSV Eindhoven vs SC Heerenveen
Peter Bosz’s return to the Eredivisie with PSV has been an incredibly successful one. After spells away at Dortmund, Leverkusen and Lyon, the 60-year-old has made PSV into a fearsome side.
In league action this season, his side have won 14 of 14 matches, including victories over rivals Ajax and Feyenoord, scored 50 and conceded just six. Remarkably, this is all after losing Cody Gakpo, Noni Madueke, Xavi Simons and Ibrahim Sangare since last summer
Bosz’s side are strong favourites to continue their winning run against Heerenveen. The visitors sit eighth in the table and have a goal difference 47 inferior to their hosts. That said, PSV cannot afford to be complacent. Only Ajax and PSV have accumulated more points in their last five Eredivisie matches than the 12 picked up by Heerenveen.
Feyenoord vs FC Volendam
It has been a trying few weeks for Arne Slot’s men. They have lost three of their last five. Those have not been insignificant losses either. They are now likely to miss out on the last 16 of the Champions League once again, and PSV’s weekend win at De Kuip has all but ruled the Rotterdammers out of the title race. Yet, they have a chance this midweek to put their troubles behind them against 17th placed minnows FC Volendam.
Volendam have conceded an eye-watering 36 goals in just 14 matches this term, the worst in the Eredivisie. Mexico striker Santiago Gimenez will be keen to add to his impressive goalscoring record against the away side. The Feyenoord striker has taken another leap forward this season, he has scored 19 goals in 17 games, making him one of the hottest strikers on the continent.
This fixture is as close to banker as one can get in this unpredictable sport. In 54 matches, Feyenoord have beaten Volendam a whopping 41 times. Volendam last beat Feyenoord all the way back in 2009, and haven’t taken a point from De Kuip since 1989. Expect Feyenoord to take out their frustrations on the visitors in a heavy win.

Orihuela vs Girona
Girona travel to Valencia on Thursday evening to play third tier CF Orihuela. The suburban club, formed only in 1993, will be keen for a giant killing in the second round of the Copa del Rey.
They will have their work cut out, however. Girona have been one of the surprise packages in European football this season, and currently level with the mighty Real Madrid in the La Liga table, only behind on goal difference.
The northern Catalonian side have combined their steady performers from last season such as Yangel Herrera, Aleix Garcia and Arnau Martinez with some fascinating recruits. Veteran Dutchman Daley Blind joined on a free, Ukrainian duo Artem Dobvyk and Viktor Tsygankov from their homeland, as well as mercurial teenage Brazil winger Savio on loan from PSV.
Girona have scored an impressive 34 goals in 15 games, which is the most in La Liga. Head coach Michel will be confident his players will add yet more goals to that tally against their opponents from the Segunda Federacion.
Everton v Newcastle
Injury-stricken Newcastle travel to Goodison Park to face a tough Everton side. The Magpies are missing a whopping eleven first teamers going into this one.Sean Dyche’s side sit 18th going into this one, but are only anywhere near the drop zone on account of their ten point deduction.
The Toffees will make this a challenging and physical away day for the Magpies. But Everton’s achilles’ heel this season has been finishing chances. Despite notching 0.9 expected goals, they have scored just 15. Eddie Howe’s men, by contrast, have 32.
This won’t be easy for Newcastle, but if you want to boost the potential winnings of your accumulator, the likes of Gordon and Isak could have too much for the Toffees.
Here are our picks for who will net first for Newcastle.
About handicap football betting
Handicap football betting tips relate to a popular market where punters effectively back a team to win by more than one goal.
Naturally, the odds only lengthen when it comes to backing a wider margin, and there are three possible outcomes on a -2 handicap bet.
- Win – The team backed wins by more than two goals.
- Loss – The team backed fails to win by two goals or more.
- Void – The team backed wins by exactly two goals.
