Ghana 2022 World Cup Squad

Ghana has previously been a heavyweight in African football on the world stage as we look ahead to their squad and chances ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Former Euro winners Portugal will be Ghana’s first test of the World Cup where the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva will want to get off to a good start in the group.

South Korea will then face Otto’s men in Al Rayyan which could be one of the most competitive fixtures in the group. On paper, these pair will be fighting out of a solid third place – with the potential of getting a huge second place finish.

Finally, old foe’s Uruguay take on Ghana in the final group game which could see a revenge for the African side after their controversial encounter 12 years ago. It was a handball from Luis Suarez on the line that stopped Ghana from reaching their first ever World Cup semi-final. A penalty was given, but missed by Asamoah Gyan in the 90th minute which eventually led to Uruguay going through. A heartbreak for Africa – but will the tables be turned on the 28th November?

Key Players To Watch In Ghana's World Cup Squad

Tariq Lamptey

One player we wish to continue the hype around would be Brighton full-back, Tariq Lamptey. In Qatar, he will offer a new way for the Black Stars to come forward and will give Otto’s men a great advantage when overlapping down the right-hand side.

As we have seen many times on the South Coast, Lamptey’s efforts for an impressive Brighton side this season should see him earn a spot on the plane – with a high potential of featuring in the starting 11 for most matches.

Despite just being 22, the former England Under 21 international has displayed a good quality in the Premier League and this could still continue in the Middle East.

Mohammed Kudus

As discussed before, Kudus will be a key player for Ghana in the group stages – as he has already turned many heads in Europe’s biggest competition. If he manages to land a part with Inaki Williams on the front-line, Ghana could be extremely dangerous in these group stages.

Ghana's World Cup Prediction And Selected Betting Odds

As seen, this is a very difficult group to get out of and Ghana will have to work hard to get beyond the group stages – but it is doable.

Every World Cup there is a huge surprise and there is no reason why there can’t be one here and we fancy them to finish above South Korea in the group with plenty of new players coming into the line-up.

For value, we will be backing Ghana to make it to the Round of 16 where odds of 3/1 can be found for them to be eliminated at this stage.

Ghana National Team

Ghana To Qualify To The Knockout Round – 2/1 (3.00)

While Ghana has the lowest chances of all teams in Group H to qualify for the next stage, this could seem very reasonable for many punters with plenty of key players in their ranks.

Ghana To Win Their Group – 10/1 (11.00)

With Ghana being held in Group H, odds of 10/1 (11.00) along with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea, it is tough to see them winning the group. Still, that is hardly impossible since it seems that this is one of the most evenly-matched groups in Qatar.

Ghana To Win The World Cup – 900/1 (901.00)

If you really fancy your chances with Ghana despite losing their first match to become world champions and be the first African side to win a World Cup then you will be able to find odds ranging from 350/1 (351.00) to 1000/1 (1001.00)

World Cup 2022 Predictions: Group H

We've seen the odds on Ghana getting out of the group and a few others, but what are the realistic predictions for this team in Qatar? Let's take a look:

Ghana to Finish Last in Group H

Group H is probably one of the closest groups where all teams have reasons to hope for good results, but even then, Ghana seems to be the weakest team in the group and we believe that they will finish last in the group.

Ghana Under 2.5 Total Goals

Although Ghana has some interesting options up front, none of those are world-class options and we don't see Ghana scoring three goals in group stages against Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea, who all have great or good defensive options.

Ghana at the 2022 World Cup

Otto Addo will be pleased with Ghana's performance despite going down 3-2 against Portugal. The Black Stars went did not let up in the fight and clawed back to a one-goal deficit in the fixture. It came after a seven-minute goalscoring extravaganza in which Ghana equalized and then allowed a two-goal lead to build up. As it stands, they sit at the bottom of Group H rankings but their goal-scoring antics would have surely kindled knockout rounds qualification hopes.

Here is how Group H looks after one game:
