Everton vs Sporting Top Two Betting Tips
The new season is nearly upon both Everton and Sporting Lisbon as they meet at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 05th. The Toffees narrowly escaped relegation last season but it seems they are in for another year of pain as they seem to have gotten weaker if anything this summer. Sporting come into the new season full of ambition and they target the title in Portugal. Below, we give you our Everton vs Sporting betting tips.
Contents
Under 1.5 Everton Goals
- Everton struggled mightily in attack last season and they are yet to address that with the singing of a new striker.
- Everton scored more than 1 goal just once in their last 7 matches.
- Sporting went 7 games in a row without conceding more than 1 goal.
Under 2.5 Goals
- Everton saw 5 of their last 6 games stay under 2.5 goals.
- Sporting have scored in every friendly so far, but 2 of their last 4 matches had only 2 goals in them.
- Everton know they can't rely on their attack much so they use very defensive tactics since Dyches took over.

Everton vs Sporting Lineups and Last Match
Everton
After a dramatic escape on the last day of the previous campaign, Everton haven't done much to address their many issues. If anything the squad has gotten weaker defensively after the departures of key centre-backs Mina and Coady. Everton are yet to sign replacements.
Coach Dyches hasn't acted on finding a spearhead for the attack either. Right now Everton are not certain who will lead their attack with the only typical centre forward Calvert-Lewin only barely just back training after a year out.
It seems Danjuma and Dobbin will operate in the most advanced positions vs Sporting. Calvert-Lewin should make an appearance but most likely he will do that off the bench.
Winger Grey is leaving the club any day now so he's not an option. Experienced defender Colman and another useful winger McNeil are currently out injured.
Predicted Lineup – Pickford (GK), Patterson, Keane, Tarkowski, Young, Iwobi, Onana, Garner, Doucoure, Dobbin, Danjuma
Sporting
The Lions went unbeaten in their 6 friendlies so far (W4 D2). They scored at least 1 goal in each of these 6 matches too. Sporting strengthened their attack with the Swedish striker Gyokeres, who scored 40 goals for Coventry over the last 2 seasons. He is likely to lead the attack from the off now and show Everton what they missed as the Toffees tried to sign him but their bid was not good enough.
St Juste is Sporting's only injured player so the Lions arrive at Goodison Park pretty much at full strength.
Predicted Lineup – Adan, Eduardo Quaresma, Coates, Goncalo Inacio, Ricardo Esgaio, Morita, Pedro Goncalves, Matheus Reis, Edwards, Gyokeres, Trincao
Starting Lineups
*Lineups are usually announced 1hr before kick-off
Player to Watch: Sebastian Coates
The former Liverpool centre-back Sebastian Coates is now Sporting's captain. He will be excited to be back at Merseyside and the powerful Uruguayan will be determined to dominate against the toothless Toffees. Coates is a monster of a defender when in top form and we back him to be very impactful in the coming match.
Coates also carries a serious threat at set pieces and we won't put it past him to try and score a goal against Everton. Boy, would he love that!
