English teams in the Europa League accumulator treble – Our picks

West Ham vs Freiburg – West Ham to score over 1.5 goals – 10/11

West Ham played out a tight first-leg clash in Freiburg, where the Hammers conceded with just nine minutes remaining. The 1-0 first-leg defeat leaves David Moyes’ side needing at least two goals at the London Stadium to progress without the need for extra time.

Achieving such a goalscoring feat is unlikely to faze West Ham in East London. The Hammers have averaged two goals per home game in this season’s Europa League, in addition to plenty of domestic goals at the London Stadium recently.

In their last two Premier League home matches, the East Londoners have scored six goals in a 4-2 win over Brentford and a 2-2 comeback draw with Burnley.

Ultimately, the Hammers have to play on the front foot in this second-leg clash against a Freiburg side that has conceded two or more goals in five of their last seven on the road. It's an achievable target for West Ham, as they target further European success following their Conference League trophy win last season.

Liverpool vs Sparta Prague – Liverpool – 2 handicap – 19/10

Liverpool head back to Anfield for this second-leg tie against Sparta Prague with one foot in the quarter-finals already. The Reds recorded a commanding 5-1 win in the Czech Republic in the first leg, as a Darwin Nunez hat-trick led the Merseysiders to victory.

It was another one-sided Liverpool victory in the 2023/24 Europa League, with Jurgen Klopp’s side now winning five of their seven European fixtures and scoring 22 goals in the process.

Exactly half of these continental goals have come at Anfield, where the Reds have covered a -3 handicap in two consecutive Europa League matches. Before the New Year, the Merseysideiders cruised to dominant wins over Toulouse (5-1) and LASK Linz (4-0) on their way to the knockout stages.

Liverpool have already shown their ability to pick apart Sparta Prague, and we anticipate another big Reds victory in front of the Kop, even with plenty of fringe names once more set to feature.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi

Brighton vs Roma – Under 2.5 total goals 13/10

Brighton face the monumental task of overturning a 4-0 aggregate deficit at the Amex on Thursday evening. Roma were in top form as the Serie A side put four past the Seagulls at the Stadio Olimpico in the first leg.

The magnitude of coming back from four goals down will likely prove too great for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Not least because the once free-flowing Seagulls have struggled for goals recently, scoring two in their last five across all competitions.

In addition, Brighton have been relatively cagey in their first-ever UEFA tournament appearance, seeing under 2.5 goals in four of their last five Europa League outings.

Similarly, Roma try to keep things tight on their European travels, and Daniele De Rossi’s side should be happy to see out their 4-0 aggregate lead at the Amex. The Giallorossi have seen two or fewer goals total in their last three on the road in the Europa League, and another low scorer is tipped.
