England to win-to-nil

The Republic of Ireland have lost and failed to score in each of their opening four Euro 2025 qualifiers

England can't afford to drop any points in Friday's clash with the Republic of Ireland on Friday night as they currently sit third in League A Group 3 of the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

Sarina Wiegman's team are level with Sweden on seven points from their opening four qualifiers but the Scandinavians have a slightly better goal difference and the pair face one another in their final game.

England vs Republic of Ireland Women prediction: Three points for the Three Lions

Key Stats

  • England have won and kept a clean sheet in each of their previous two meetings with the Republic of Ireland.
  • England have scored at least two goals in four of their last six outings.
  • Beth Mead has a great goalscoring record for England, netting 33 times in 57 caps, including one goal in the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

Correct score prediction: England 2-0 Republic of Ireland

The Republic of Ireland haven't scored in any of their Euro 2025 qualifiers so far and have conceded at least two goals in half of those matches, while England have scored exactly two goals in two of their last three matches.

England preview: Must-win game against The Girls in Green

England pulled off a superb result away against France in their last qualifier to give the Lionesses a great chance of making it to Switzerland next summer.

Midfielder Georgia Stanway fired England in front in the 21st minute at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and Arsenal striker Alessia Russo doubled the visitors' lead in the 34th minute.

France converted a penalty in the second half but the Lionesses held on to secure a massive three points.

Predicted lineup: Hampton (GK), Bronze, Bright, Williamson, Carter, Walsh, Stanway, Toone, Mead, Russo & Hemp

Republic of Ireland preview: Already out of contention

The Republic of Ireland gave a good account of themselves away at Sweden last time out but still ended up losing the game and failing to score for the fourth successive qualifier.

The visitors kept things tight at the back and looked like they might go on to secure their first point of the qualifiers until Sweden broke the deadlock very late on to win the game 1-0.

Predicted lineup: Brosnan (GK), Louise Quinn, McCabe, Mannion, Hayes, Littlejohn, Connolly, Agg, Ziu, Kiernan & Carusa

Player to watch – Beth Mead

Beth Mead has only scored one goal in the Euro 2025 qualifiers so far but will be hopeful of adding to her tally against a struggling Irish team on Friday night.

The 29-year-old Arsenal forward has a great record for England, netting 33 times in 57 appearances, and heads into this game on the back of another good season for her club in which she scored nine times in 28 games.

Will Mead add to her England goals tally on Friday?

The Republic of Ireland defence has conceded seven goals in qualifying so far and the team is yet to register a goal of their own. With that in mind, we're backing Mead to score and help guide England to another three points in their pursuit of a spot in Switzerland next summer.
