Inter Milan and Roma have been rumoured to be interested in making a swap deal involving Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez. Inter manager Antonio Conte, though, has dismissed such suggestions but he did accept that a transfer may be possible before the end of the window. According to Goal.com, Conte said that he did not want to comment on players belonging to other clubs. He said:
“I won’t talk about Edin Dzeko to Inter because he’s a Roma player. If there’s some players unhappy here, we’ll be ready to open negotiations.”
Dzeko has fallen out with Roma coach Paulo Fonseca. As a result, the team from the capital are very keen to take Dzeko off the books so as to avoid any problems within the squad. The former Manchester City striker is keen on staying in the Italian top division. At 34 years of age, he brings a wealth of experience to any club. Inter Milan would be approving of such a player to replace Alexis Sanchez, who has had a mediocre time with the title challengers.
Inter completed the free transfer of Sanchez only in the summer. He has come up with two goals and four assists in 19 appearances for the team. However, he has been frozen out of the first team action for a while. Sanchez has not featured for Inter Milan from the starting line-up the loss against Sampdoria at the start of January. Most of the recent performances from the Chilean have been lacklustre and a swap deal will be beneficial for all parties.
Roma are ready to let Edin Dzeko leave the club, there is no doubt that the Bosnian has been one of the prolific players in the Italian Serie A since his switch from Manchester City in 2016. The 34-year-old has returned an impressive figure of 114 goals in just 242 matches for Roma. Even this season, he has managed a reasonable tally of the goals and two assists in 20 appearances across all competitions.
