Everything you need to know about the Danish Superliga

Danish Superliga

The Danish Superliga is the top professional football league in Denmark. It is the highest level of football competition in the country and is administered by the Danish Football Association. It operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Danish 1st Division, the second-tier league in Denmark.

The league consists of 12 teams, and each team plays a total of 32 matches in a season, with home and away fixtures against the other teams in the league. They play a full home-and-away schedule against each other, which accounts for 22 matches for each team.

It is then followed by the Play-Off sections, Championship and Relegation. The top six teams at the end of the regular season battle it out to see who will win the title and participate in the UEFA competitions. On the other hand, the bottom six battle amongst themselves for top-flight honours.

The two teams finishing at the bottom of the table are relegated to the 1st Division, which is the second tier of Danish football. Meanwhile, the team that is at the top of the Relegation Group has an opportunity to secure a European spot. They play the team at the bottom of the Championship Group for the possibility in the Europa League Playoff.
