We have made our Cameroon vs Guinea first goalscorer prediction ahead of their opening Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group game on Monday. In a Group C that also contains Gambia and reigning champions Senegal, both teams will be looking to qualify for the knockouts alongside the latter, and may have to take points off each other to do so.
Cameroon vs Guinea first goalscorer odds

Vincent Aboubakar (Cameroon) – 23/5
Based on AFCON pedigree – as Cameroon have won the competition five times – and the fact they sit higher than Guinea in the FIFA World Rankings (46th) among other factors, they will be favourites to beat Guinea on Monday.
Aboubakar is the favourite with betting markets to open the scoring for Cameroon, and we find it hard to back against him. He is his country's all-time third-highest scorer with 40 goals in 100 senior caps, behind legendary strikers Samuel Eto'0 and Roger Milla. Aboubakar was also AFCON 2021's top scorer with eight goals, which included five in the group stage.
The 31-year-old plays his club football for Besiktas, where he has netted 11 times in 22 appearances in all competitions this season, and that kind of strike rate certainly puts him among the favourites to open the scoring on Monday.

Karl Toko-Ekambi (Cameroon) – 13/2
Like Aboubakar, Toko-Ekambi is no stranger to finding the back of the net, as he scored five times at AFCON 2021 – just three shy of his strike partner. In fact, the 31-year-old has netted 13 times in 55 senior caps for his country, and will look to add to that total in the Ivory Coast.
Toko-Ekambi plays his club football for Abha in the Saudi Pro League, where he has scored seven goals in 17 appearances in all competitions. The forward made a name for himself in Europe, playing for established teams like Villarreal and Lyon, and his experience could help drive Cameroon on in this tournament.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (Cameroon) – 13/2
With Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo out injured, Nkoudou is likely to aid Aboubakar and Toko-Ekambi in the striking department for Cameroon. Like Toko-Ekambi, he also plays his club football in Saudi Arabia, and he has been in blistering form for Damac.
Nkoudou has netted 14 times in just 17 Saudi Pro League appearances this season, making him the league's third-highest scorer behind Al-Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Hilal's Aleksandar Mitrovic. A French youth international, he switched his allegiances to Cameroon in 2022, and has two goals in six senior caps – a ratio that makes him a threat at AFCON 2023.

Serhou Guirassy (Guinea) – 7/1
Guinea's biggest goalscoring threat will no doubt come from Guirassy, who has been on fire in the Bundesliga this season. He has scored 17 goals in just 14 league appearances, helping VfB Stuttgart cement an unlikely third place in the table, and his record is only beaten by Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane.
Like Nkoudou, Guirassy switched international allegiances in 2022 having played for France at youth level, and he has netted three times in 12 senior caps for Guinea. His country will be underdogs on Monday, but Guirassy is arguably the most in-form player from both teams, and is certainly capable of opening the scoring.
Cameroon vs Guinea first goalscorer prediction – our pick
Getting anywhere near the tallies that goal addicts like Ronaldo and Mitrovic can rack up is very impressive, making Nkoudou‘s price to strike first a very interesting one that we feel represents good value.
Nkoudou's price to be an anytime scorer has also shortened in the past 24 hours, to 10/3.
