Brian Brobbey Man Utd transfer teased by Dutch star

A Brian Brobbey Man Utd transfer could be on the cards in the upcoming summer window, as the Ajax star has teased a potential move.

Speaking to NOS Jeugdjournaal (via Manchester Evening News), Brobbey claimed that Man Utd is a “very nice” club when quizzed about his future, although he did say the same thing about Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Arsenal. The Gunners are also thought to be interested in the striker according to The Independent, although their preferred target is thought to be Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.

Brobbey has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in various parts of Erik ten Hag's tenure, having worked with him at Ajax. The likes of Lisandro Martinez and Antony have followed the Dutchman to Manchester, and the latest reports suggest Brobbey could end up doing the same.

Brian Brobbey Man Utd move: Is Ten Hag staying?

There are clearly obvious links between Brobbey and Ten Hag, which suggests that the latter could end up staying at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has been linked with a possible Man Utd exit after a hugely disappointing Premier League campaign, which saw them finish in their lowest-ever position of eighth, recording an embarrassing negative goal difference for the first time.

The Dutchman could still win silverware and a place in the UEFA Europa League if his team can win the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon, but they face their imperious noisy neighbours Manchester City, who will be favourites after just winning an unmatched fourth consecutive Premier League title. Nonetheless, it looks more likely that Man Utd will end up trophyless, and without European football for the first time in the Premier League era.

However, Ten Hag could end up staying if Man Utd do win the FA Cup, and so Brobbey would be a signing that can help them continue to rebuild under the Dutch manager. Indeed, the 22-year-old has registered an impressive 22 goals and 12 assists in an otherwise underwhelming season for Ajax, and has shown plenty of potential out in the Netherlands.

Rasmus Hojlund was bought as an expensive project signing to try and help lead the Red Devils back to the glory days of old, but he only managed a mere 10 goals in the Premier League all season, although admittedly through a severe lack of service at times. Nonetheless, Brobbey would help ease the burden off of the Denmark international, and they could end up forming a formidable partnership if Man Utd could get a deal done this summer.
