Marseille vs Brest Lineups and Last Match
Marseille
Right after their painful exit from the Champions League at the hands of Panathinaikos Marseille were low on morale and they only drew 2-2 away vs Metz. It was another sloppy display from the team with Metz reduced to ten men when Marseille were 1-0 up and yet it was Marseille that needed to score right at the death to save the point.
Last April when Marseille hosted Brest they lost 1-2. Got outsmarted on that day and Mbemba’s late goal was only a mere consolation.
We must stress here that there is a possibility for the game to be moved later in the day due to heat.
Important midfielder Kondogbia hurt his ankle last weekend and he is the only sidelined player. Gueye is also unavailable due to a doping ban. Neither of those major issues.
Predicted Lineup – Lopez (GK), Clauss, Balerdi, Mbemba, Lodi, Sarr, Rongier, Veretout, Ounahi, Aubameyang & Ndiaye
Brest
Brest flirted with danger all of last season but they have started the new campaign in great shape. Back-to-back wins and 3 goals scored in each of those give the Pirates a lot to feel good about.
Del Castillo backed his 2 goals from round 1 with a goal and an assist last weekend. The starting lineup has stayed the same in the first 2 rounds and this is likely to happen again.
There are no serious injury issues in the squad either.
Predicted Lineup – Bizot (GK), Lala, Chardonnet, Brassier, Locko, Camara, Lees-Melou, Magnetti, Del Castillo, Satriano & Le Douaron

Player to Watch: Romain Del Castillo
Romain Del Castillo has been lighting it for Brest so far and he already bagged 3 goals in the first 2 rounds. Del Castillo’s form was excellent in pre-season too when he scored 3 goals. Also, he has fond memories from his last trip to Stade Velodrome as he was directly involved in both goals Brest scored back in April.
With Marseille unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 13 home games and Del Castillo full of confidence right now we can see him being a major factory again.
