Bolton to win +1.25
First of all, we would like to point out that these teams don't play in the same division; Aston Villa play in the Premier League, the English top flight, while their opponents play in League One, the third tier of English football. However, despite being the favourites here, Aston Villa's recent form doesn't inspire much confidence; the Villans have played two games away from home this season and they've lost both matches. In contrast, Bolton Wanderers have won three of four home games so far this season; they've lost just one of six games they've played in all competitions. Considering Bolton have the advantage of playing at home, we don't think they'll lose by more than one goal.
Goals could be in short supply
Next, we'll take a look at the over/under goals market. Although both teams have not met in three years, previous encounters between these sides have mostly been on the low-scoring side; as their last four encounters saw less than three goals scored. In the same vein, we would also like to point out that Bolton have had their fair share of low-scoring games; six of their last eight matches went below the 2.5 goal line, including their last three. For these reasons, we don't think these teams will score up to three goals between them.

Bolton might fancy their chances of an upset
Let's have this right, it would be an almighty upset if Bolton were to get a result here. They won't be trembling with fear at the idea of facing Aston Villa though. The Premier League outfit are not firing on all cylinders and, from a pure morale perspective, they really cannot afford to lose.
Bolton Wanderers suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday last weekend; before that loss, Ian Evatt's men had no losses in six matches, with three wins and three draws. Bolton Wanderers will hope to bounce back from that loss as they square off against Aston Villa; will they be able to upset the Premier League side?
Bolton Predicted lineup – Trafford, Jones, Santos, Johnston, Bradley, Morley, Williams, Iredale, Dempsey, Bakayoko, Afolayan
Aston Villa dropped three points in a 3:1 loss at Crystal Palace over the weekend; that was their second loss in three league games, as Steven Gerrard's men have dropped further down the Premier League table. The Villans will visit the University of Bolton Stadium for their first Carabao Cup fixture of the season; they'll fancy their chances against the League One outfit.
Aston Villa Predicted lineup – Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne, McGinn, Kamara, Ramsey, Bailey, Watkins, Buendia
