Spanish football has boasted some of the most dynamic attacking combinations in world football over the past decade but with legends like Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema having now departed, some exciting new goal and assist La Liga combos are emerging.
Truth be told, the numbers aren’t quite as impressive with no player in La Liga creating more than three goals for a single teammate so far this season. That’s fewer than the best Premier League double acts but there are still some dangerous duos who are causing problems for defences up and down Spain.
Best goal and assist La Liga combos
Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann
The best strike partnership this season in La Liga has been Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann. Between them, the pair have scored 24 times in La Liga and 37 in all competitions for Atletico Madrid.
It hasn’t been a typical season by any means for Diego Simeone’s team who have been leaky defensively but more threatening going forward than has been the case throughout much of the Argentine’s reign.
Griezmann has been the man most likely to make things happen and he’s created three goals for strike partner Alvaro Morata. Both have had injury issues in recent weeks though which has seen Memphis Depay and Angel Correa feature more frequently in attack for Los Rojiblancos. Morata may be ready to start this weekend though and he’s 9/7 to score anytime against Betis.
Kirian Rodriguez and Alberto Moleiro
Las Palmas have been one of the surprise packages on their return to La Liga, currently sitting comfortably in mid-table and not too far off a European place. They’re not a free scoring team by any means with just 26 goals in 26 games, but Kirian Rodriguez and Alberto Moleiro have been two of their standout attacking performers.
Moleiro has set up Kirian on three occasions with the midfielder enjoying a really impressive season with six goals overall. His story is a remarkable one given the 27 year old was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma as recently as 2022 and was only able to feature in five Segunda Division matches as a result last term, but he’s been a revelation in the top flight.
Las Palmas are at Getafe this weekend and Kirian Rodriguez is priced at 20/1 to score first, long odds given how frequently he’s finding the net from midfield.
Artem Dovbyk and Viktor Tsygankov
Another of the best goal and assist La Liga combos is at Girona where Ukraine duo Artem Dovbyk and Viktor Tsygankov have been firing. They’ve scored a combined 20 league goals which is more than Cadiz’s whole squad has managed with Dovbyk a strong candidate to win the Pichichi Trophy.
Girona are still 2nd in La Liga but face a real battle if they want to overhaul Real Madrid and win the title. They visit Mallorca this weekend and Dovbyk is the 6/4 favourite to score anytime.
Luis Suarez and Largie Ramazani
Almeria are the only winless team in Europe’s big five leagues, but they do have two players who have combined for three goals. Remarkably those all came in the same game, with Largie Ramazani setting up all three of Luis Suarez’s strikes in a 3-3 draw against Granada in October.
Sadly for Almeria, Suarez is likely to be out injured until May by which time the Andalusians will almost certainly be down. Ramazani’s form has also dipped and he’s no longer a guaranteed pick so we may not see this pair combine again for Almeria with at least one likely to depart in the summer.
Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham
There are a long list of La Liga duos who have combined for two goals, including seven such combinations at Real Madrid. One of those is Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham with the Croatian setting up the Englishman twice in La Liga.
Modric is no longer a regular in this Real Madrid side and may call time on his career in Spain at the end of the season. However, he has still picked out Bellingham with some perfect passes including a brilliant delivery which set up the 20 year old to score against Villarreal in December.
Bellingham has missed the past few games due to injury, but he’s 2/1 to score anytime at Valencia this weekend, although it’s unclear whether he’ll be fit enough to play.
