Some of these Arsenal transfer targets may need to become reality if the Gunners are to end nearly two decades of waiting for a fourth Premier League title.
The Gunners were top of the Premier League at Christmas and looked to be many people's favourites to go all the way after falling short last season. However, back-to-back defeats against West Ham and Fulham have seen them fall away and relinquish the top spot.
In both of those games, Arsenal finished with higher XGs than the goals they've been able to produce, especially against the Hammers when they mustered up a 2.7XG but failed to score once. So, it's no surprise that they're heavily tipped to sign a new striker this month, and we're going to look into who they're currently linked with.
Arsenal transfer targets, rumours and odds
Mikel Arteta needs a natural goalscorer
Mikel Arteta made a big decision over the summer to keep the faith in Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus, despite many recognising they're probably not strikers who are good enough to lead the line week-in-week-out for a title-winning side. That was also proven by Manchester City's willingness to sell the Brazilian striker.
Over the past two years, Arsenal has been linked with players such as Alexander Isak, Dusan Vlahovic and Ivan Toney. The Gunners are only the seventh-highest-scoring side in the league, which certainly won't be good enough to win a title.
Squad depth must be looked at
While a new striker is at the top of Arsenal's list this month, some more squad depth is also required. In terms of the defence, Takehiro Tomiyasu has had his injury woes, there's also big drop-off at centre-back behind Gabriel and William Saliba.
So, perhaps bringing in some younger players who can learn from more experienced professionals could be a wise move, otherwise challenging for a title will become nothing more than a dream.
Arsenal transfer betting tips – Latest odds
Ivan Toney 2/1 (3.0)
It wouldn't be a list of Arsenal transfer targets without mentioning Ivan Toney. The England international has not kicked a ball all season, but is still very much top of their wanted list.
Arsenal need a striker who can be reliable in the final third, while also able to help bring the likes of Saka and Martinelli into play without them being forced to stay out on the wing, but there is going to be one obvious sticking point.
That sticking point is going to be the price tag which is said to be around £85 million, so the Gunners will likely have to sell some players to fund that move after a summer of spending big on Declan Rice.
Pedro Neto 6/1 (7.0)
Pedro Neto has found himself out of the Wolves squad for several weeks having picked up a hamstring injury against Newcastle United. However, he played in their recent win against Everton, putting him in the spotlight again.
Neto has long been linked with Arsenal, and with Arteta's unwillingness to start the likes of Reiss Nelson or Emile Smith-Rowe, bringing in a more accomplished and talented winger could be what's needed to keep pushing Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to their highest level.
Dominic Solanke 8/1 (9.0)
Dominic Solanke was perhaps not a name that would have been on any of the top six's transfer lists at the start of the season, but the Englishman has been in the form of his career and is currently the second-top scorer in the Premier League.
Only Mohammed Salah and Erling Haaland have more goals than Solanke in the league and with him being a London-born striker he could be tempted to swap the seaside for a return back to the capital, and also, he would likely be a more financially viable option than Ivan Toney.
Victor Osimhen 8/1 (9.0)
The Nigerian striker is one of the most in-demand players on the transfer market. Despite having just signed a new contract at Napoli, he does indeed have a £115 million release clause so he will be available for many clubs this month.
Victor Osimhen is wanted by clubs in Saudi Arabia as well as across Europe. However, given the release clause, it could well be that many owners and managers see last season's top scorer in Serie A as a summer target, but he would instantly make Arsenal strong title contenders.
