Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli is at the centre of a transfer tussle between Arsenal and Juventus, according to the player’s agent. After a sensational Euro 2020 with Italy, Locatelli has been subjected to a lot of transfer interest from different clubs across European football. Sassuolo are trying hard to keep hold of the player, who is valued in excess of £35 million. The midfielder is keen on securing Champions League football for next season and a move to the likes of Juventus will fit perfectly into this ambition.
Juve recently made a £26 million offer for the midfielder but it had been instantly rejected by Sassuolo. Arsenal have been chasing the player for quite a while but Sassuolo have not openly discussed about an official offer from the Gunners. The player’s agent, though, has confirmed that the 20-year-old has been subjected to a £35 million offer from the North London outfit.
Arsenal recently splashed the cash on Ben White by signing the England international from Brighton for a figure of £50 million. Despite missing out on Champions League football for the upcoming campaign, Arsenal have not stopped backing manager Mikel Arteta, who guided the club to an eighth-place finish. Juventus, meanwhile, failed to win the league title for the first time in a decade and the club recently brought back Massimiliano Allegri to replace Andrea Pirlo.
After starting the Euro 2020 as a backup to Marco Verratti, Locatelli grew in stature and he was able to provide a lot of energy to the Italian national team. He even came up with two goals in the group game against Switzerland. Arsenal have already strengthened their midfield with the signing of Albert Sambi Lokonga and the presence of an engine like Locatelli will truly make Arsenal very strong in this area of the pitch.
