It’s shaping up to be a busy end to the transfer window at Barcelona with departures needed if the club are to get deals over the line. Ansu Fati is one player who could leave and Tottenham has now emerged as a possible destination for the 20 year old. Here’s the latest with the potential Ansu Fati Tottenham transfer.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have made a bright start to the new Premier League season and the signing of a young player who was once viewed as one of the most exciting young players in the world, would be an intriguing addition to the Spurs squad.
Joining an attack-minded team in a league where matches tend to be more open, may also be the kick-start Ansu Fati needs at this point in his career. However it’s certainly true that significant doubts remain about Fati and whether he’s capable of living up to his early promise after serious injury problems.

With Fati failing to start any of Barcelona’s opening three league games despite some notable attacking absentees, it has become increasingly apparent that the club are open to letting the player leave and the Spanish international appears to be warming to that idea too.
Tottenham are believed to be in talks with Barcelona over a move for the player, while Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with a late bid.
The Spurs deal is being reported as a season-long loan with Barcelona hoping to convince Daniel Levy to cover all of the player’s wages. Fati signed a new deal at Camp Nou in October 2021 which saw his salary shoot up to more than €250,000 per week, however a string of injuries hampered him over the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign and Fati struggled for form and regular minutes last term.
It’s unclear at this stage whether any deal would include an option to buy. Barcelona will be hoping that a year in England can allow Fati to get sharp and rediscover his best form, in which case he could return to La Liga next season and potentially relaunch his career at the club he first joined as a 10 year old.

There are many moving parts that will impact exactly what happens over the final few days of the transfer window at Barcelona. The club are hoping to finalise the signing of Joao Cancelo who would be a strong candidate for a starting role in Xavi’s eleven, however they need players to leave to be able to register Cancelo.
Getting Fati off the wage bill would be a significant boost to their chances of making late signings and one possibility is that Joao Felix arrives as Fati’s replacement.
The Portuguese international went public with his desire to join Barcelona in a risky move earlier this summer that has further alienated him at current employers Atletico Madrid. There has been no concrete offer from Barcelona yet with Felix not viewed as a priority signing for Xavi, although the departure of Fati would further deplete his attacking options.
Should it be financially possible, Barça could opt to make a late move for Joao Felix who has been waiting patiently for the defending Spanish champions to come in for him. Any deal would most likely also be a season-long loan, potentially with an option to buy, and that would enable Barcelona to reassess things next summer and decide whether Fati or Felix is the better long-term bet.
