Traditionally, the January transfer window doesn't see too many major moves completed with most clubs preferring to keep their powder dry for the summer market.
And it's understandable, too: signing players in the summer allows them to integrate into their new surroundings before the season begins, whereas January moves see the new recruits thrown in at the deep end.
But all of that could change this season.
The 2017/18 campaign seems to have seen an unusual amount of high-profile players struggle for first-team action, forced to warm the bench when they'd be expecting to play.
Ordinarily, these players would be willing to fight for their starting place and re-evaluate their options in the summer if they are still on the fringes.
But this is a World Cup year, and sitting out now could mean missing out on a place at next summer's tournament in Russia.
As such, there are a number of big names who could be looking to find a new home during the mid-season transfer window.
In this video, we've picked out six players who will be desperate for a move in January.
