BlueBet Australia overview

Among the newer, emerging sports betting platforms BlueBet for me really is one of the better ones. My BlueBet review has taken in everything they currently offer. It seems to be a comprehensive platform covering desktop, mobile browser and free betting apps. This app and site is easy to use, offers plenty of betting markets and even allows for live streaming of horse racing coverage from Though brands like BlueBet cannot offer inducements, they do have tons of features and products unique to the site.

BlueBet review 2024: bonus, features & app overview

There’s plenty to recommend BlueBet, which is why they are one of our favourite Australian bookmakers. There is a concentration on horse racing for sure, but there are also plenty of other sports to bet on with Aussie rules in particular featuring some very varied markets.

In my 2024 BlueBet review, I aim to show you everything you need to know. Is it good? Is it bad? Is BlueBet legit?

I’m taking a look at BlueBet’s key features, racing and sports betting markets, payment options, betting app, customer service and a whole lot more.

We always aim to check the full details of every bookie we review. You can trust us to tell the truth about them all. These are BlueBet’s main strengths and weaknesses:

✅ Excellent customer service including live chat

❌ No extras (casino, bingo, etc.)

✅ Free iOS and Android apps

❌ Little live sports betting (except racing)

✅ Good odds

❌ No promo codes offered in Australia

✅ Live horse racing streaming

I should make it clear that BlueBet has some other redeeming features. It offers more payment options than some of the so-called big boys for example.

But the fact that the site offers good odds, especially on racing, is the main point. There's nothing more important than simply getting value for money when you bet and we hold that dear.

BlueBet history – an Australian native bookmaker

Back in 2015, BlueBet Holdings Ltd was founded and was based in Sydney.

Chairman Michael Sullivan has an extensive history within the bookmaking industry in Australia. Working in the sector for more than thirty years, he has been in charge of such brands as William Hill.

BlueBet was put together using quality, experienced industry people. The brand has offices in Sydney and Darwin and is regulated under a Northern Territory Gambling license.

Though a relatively new brand, BlueBet’s reputation is excellent. At least, that’s what I found during this thorough BlueBet review for May 2024.

In part due to their strong specialising in horse racing, BlueBet’s revenue grew significantly at the start of 2024 and it seems it’s all on and up from here.

Where is BlueBet legal? – starting to expand

Though started as a proper Aussie bookmaker, in fact being known as “the homegrown bookie”, BlueBet is looking to expand.

You can use BlueBet legally in Australia, and they are begining to expand to the US market too. Operations begin in Louisiana for starters, under the brand ClutchBet, but it is hoped we will see more of BlueBet around the world before too long.

BlueBet bonuses & promotions – unique

There is currently no BlueBet referral code in Australia. I did find numerous unique products and features during the BlueBet sportsbook review however.

BlueBet sign-up offer

As ever, there are no inducements allowed in Australia for new players. Never fear though, as once you’re a customer there are plenty of features available instead.

BlueBet loyalty program

There is no specific loyalty program available. What I found when trawling other BlueBet review entries from punters however is that it really isn’t needed.

The brand is already set up with players in mind, so bad service and bad odds with a loyalty scheme is essentially replaced with solid service and fair odds all the time.

BlueBet promotions for existing customers

It’s all about the products and features here, rather than attractive-looking promos. Some of the top features offered by BlueBet include:

Same Game Multi

BlueBet Same Game Multi

Available on AFL, NRL, NBA, NFL, Big Bash and EPL. Combine different single bets from the same match into one multi. Known also as a Bet Builder.

Same Race Multi

BlueBet Same Race Multi

Combine two or more runners to win or finish top 2/3 and receive a multi-price from BlueBet.

Punters can play head-to-head using player prop markets. Select the winners of key stat categories – an exclusive to BlueBet. Live Streaming

Punters can watch coverage with BlueBet, including via the free app.

Safety and trustworthiness – rest assured

The BlueBet review handed out a 10/10 for safety and security. There really are no worries here.

It’s a must to stay safe when betting online and the very most basic thing is to only bet with fully regulated and licensed brands. We only review licensed brands here.

BlueBet uses 256-bit SSL encryption, meaning all your data is kept safe. Two-factor authentication can be used, while safety features for players are offered including self-exclusion and cooling-off periods.

BlueBet is looking to break into the upper echelons of the bookmaking world and, as such, they cannot afford anything less than top-class security. They are fully licensed and pose no concerns.

BlueBet license – totally legal

Licenses are crucial for punters. This way, we know a reputable brand is regulated and cannot simply walk away without paying customers or change rules on them at the drop of a hat.

During the BlueBet sportsbook review I saw that their license was given by the Northern Territory Racing Commission.

The company therefore has to follow their rules and regulations in terms of operating a betting platform and app. The entity also is bound by Australian gambling laws meaning it cannot offer us promos on its main site.

The Northern Territory Racing Commission is very experienced in this area. Only a proper, reputable brand is given a license by them so you can rest assured that this brand is all above board.

So, is BlueBet legit? You bet it is.

BlueBet external source reviews – fair and accurate, generally happy customers

Though it remains ever important to complete our own BlueBet review in full, it’s always pertinent to keep in mind what current users think of the brand.

Current customers often have very different views. Their views not only differ from each other, but from us too. Some players are negative online due to something having gone wrong.

These are some of the headlines from external BlueBet critiques:

Review Source

App Store

“The response time for BlueBet beats any other bookie, live chat honestly responds within seconds”

“This app is frustrating to use especially if you use other punting bets”

Google Play Store

“Being someone who has used a fair few gambling platforms, it is my opinion that BlueBet is the number one betting site in Australia”

“Constantly need to close and reopen app to refresh resulted bets and account balance”

BlueBet markets to bet on

I settled on an 8/10 for BlueBet’s sports betting markets. This includes their dedicated horse racing section.

There is a pretty decent selection of markets, odds and events here. You can take a punt on various major sports away from racing such as game sin the AFL, NBA, NRL and others. The English Premier League is also popular.

There are also some more niche betting events. Odds appear to be competitive here, which is the absolute number one thing punters should be concerned with ahead of promos and features.

Generally, their offering is pretty solid. There’s more info on what sports you can bet on below.

Sports betting markets on Blue Bet AU

Using their BlueBet Blog which is very good, you can grab some BlueBet tips on the following sports, all of which you can bet on:

Bluebet Sportsbook Australia
Aussie rulesHorse racingBoxing
American FootballGolfMMA
CyclingIce hockeyTennis
Motor racingCricketMartial Arts
BasketballFootballTable Tennis

There are more than 130 markets available on Aussie rules games, while other sports are very well covered too.

It shouldn’t surprise us with the owner’s background however that horse racing is the major focus.

Horse racing betting – comprehensive markets

There is a very comprehensive horse racing section. Horses, greyhounds and harness racing can all be included on the same odds page.

bluebet horse racing app

You can choose to bet by day. Aussie racing will show as ‘today’, ‘tomorrow’, ‘Saturday’ etc. There is also ‘feature’ horse racing where you can find future, ante-post odds on major events.

Domestic races such as the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup are all priced up alongside events like the Kentucky Derby or Royal Ascot internationally. You can bet on:

  • Win/place odds
  • Quaddie
  • Double
  • Treble
  • Mystery bets
  • Odds v evens
  • Quick multi

Just click on any race daily, even those abroad, and you’ll see the fixed win and place odds for each horse listed in decimal form.

Click on the horse(s) you want and they will appear in your bet slip.

You can also live stream the racing action via on BlueBet’s platforms. This is a great service and keeps things all-round; you can get info from the blog, place your bets and then watch the race live.

Casino games – currently not in Australia

BlueBet has most certainly started life as a horse racing and sports betting platform.

There are no casino games offered here, though if you are a proper died-in-the-wool sports punter then it isn’t something you’ll miss. Maybe it’ll be offered as an extra in the future, but for now we aren’t too bothered about its absence.

BlueBet review: easy-to-use mobile app

As well as a decent mobile website, it was great to see a Bluebet app available for download.

We gave the app 8/10 as there isn’t much missing from it at all. The free app is available to download on both Android and iOS.

The mobile browser is absolutely fine, especially on iPhones. The app however is a little more convenient after the download and is:

  • Full of features
  • Very fast
  • Free to download

The app looks great and I like the colour scheme.

All of our reviews are thorough, including the BlueBet review. It remains interesting to us however to seek out external reviews, including those on the Google Play Store where the app is downloaded.

BlueBet review: banking options

I found more than enough deposit and withdrawal options here during the BlueBet review. Full details are below.

BlueBet Withdrawal methods

Withdrawals tend to be more difficult and it’s the case here too. There are however several options:

Max. Deposit
Processing Speed

Bank Transfer

1 - 7 days

Up to 24 hours

1-7 days

1-7 days

Though it can technically take up to a week, credit/debit card withdrawals and bank transfers often take much less. One of our top BlueBet tips is to use Visa or Mastercard as you shouldn’t incur fees, while e-wallets will charge a percentage.

BlueBet customer support – solid service

I gave the customer support a rock-solid 9/10 in the BlueBet review.

Michael Sullivan, who owns BlueBet, was once with William Hill and knows the value of customer service. Much more to the point, he understands people want to get issues sorted quickly and so having a live chat available is a great positive.

If you need to get in touch, you will find the BlueBet team friendly, chatty, knowledgeable and helpful.

You can write to the team at these addresses:

PO Box R1316, Royal Exchange Post Office, 38-40 Pitt Street, Sydney, NSW 2000.

PO Box 370, Parap, NT 0804.

Alternatively, use these methods found during our Bluebet sportsbook review:

  • 📱 Phone: 1800 797 066 (racing), 1800 797 558 (sports) or 1800 797 644 (customer service)
  • ✉️ Email: contact@bluebet(.)
  • 🐦 Twitter (X): @BlueBetAu
  • 💬 Live chat: yes

One of our top BlueBet tips is to use the live chat system. This way you get answers in real-time.

Responsible gambling – getting help in AU

I noticed during my BlueBet review that the brand offers its own help on the site. Just head to ‘responsible gambling’ and then click ‘BlueBet help’.

If you may be struggling somewhat and wish to use an outside organisation, you can get free and confidential support here:
